What bat do you like for 11-U

I would be careful about spending too much--in case that youth leagues follow suit with the colleges and high schools with bat restrictions. On the other hand, you can take the old George Allen approach as "the future is now," and buy a bat that will optimize performance for the current year.

In any case, a good bat is useless unless your son practices--and develops sound hitting mechanics. I bought my son a Redline this past year, but he uses a $10 wood bat in the commercial cages. I saw a big difference in his performance.

One bat I would stay away from, is the TPX Air Attack or Air Attack-2--I've seen those bat dent too easily from normal use. My son's redline (C-core)--BTW, I think you'll be able to get that bat at a decent price since Easton has come out with the Z-Core--held up great and he'll use it, again this coming spring. I personally would not go for the "Z" model.

For the weather, I saw some decreased performance with the college bats in colder weather (both Easton and TPX), but I didn't see much in 50-60 degree weather with the 12-U kids. Our bats are tucked safely and warmly in the closet for the winter. Hope this helps. JT
