hitting down

By: Kelvin May
Add to Mixx!

My son who is nine years old has started hitting down slightly on the ball like he is chopping wood. I have been tossing him balls underhand from the side and having him hit into a backstop. This works fine and he swings more level and even slightly up. However as soon as he gets into the box and faces real pitching he again swings down.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
thanks
