Sharing ballfields/follow up/there I went again

I think the reason the parks board has not been willing to negotiate with LL is because they did not believe we could hold an organization together to be successful. At the county facility that formerly hosted our games, the concession stand was privately owned with no money coming back to the league. We paid the county quite a bit of money (per player) and had substandard restrooms and huge holes in the nets above home plate.

We were approached by a private park that offered a percentage of concessions, maintenance, and took over scheduling and umpires. I think they just are mad over the whole thing, but ignored any pleas from the LL for anything. They knew the league was still using the ballfields for practice (these are different than the facility for games) but have retaliated by removing portable restrooms, mowing equipment, and anything else they could find. The fields have been maintained solely by the coaches.

Now, these travel teams are claiming these same fields for their own private use! I can assure you that if they do receive exclusive access, they will find empty fields because the LL will reclaim the bases, benches, sheds, and equipment that was placed at the parks with their funding.

Part of the issue in this town is the abundance of travel teams that have formed. You can have only so many players of that caliber in one area, so what you see is teams that are considered allstar status but are actually no better than kids in LL. They consider themselves superior, but they spend lots of time and money to get smoked by other teams every week.

The organization that was allowed to erect a fence around their playing area began to suffer when parents became tired of the above situation and transferred their kids back to LL. Now, only a few teams use the fields and they set empty most days.
