cheers and chants

HI :)

I have been coaching cheerleading for 7 years now, and I can tell you my biggest pet peeve! Coaches that to not train the younger cheerleaders with the basics! What I mean by this is correct ways to do arm motions, basic stunts, how to clasp correctly..etc.

By building these habits young, and teaching the girls what muscles they need to make all of these things work needs to start young. This way when they get older, the coaches do not need to spend weeks breaking bad habits they have learned when they were younger.

Do cheers that use motions the girls actually use in competitions, and older squads. I would suggest staying away from cute cheers that are sing songy..this habit is SO hard to break!

Check out my site for some chants that I use with my girls. I also have proper motion technique on the page. http://members.tripod.com/GreenGirl8/Cheerleading.html
