TOO YOUNG?

By: Coach JT

hey Gina,
i'll take the middle road here......i think, if the boy really wants to play, and has the opportunity, then let him...he'll decide how he likes it......im glad we dont have those young teams here....our league was only 5th/6th graders, and it was fun, but hard...you have to teach whatever it is you want them to learn very quickly, cuz their attention span is so short...they just want to goof around...then they dropped 5th graders, and went to a 6th/7th grade league....7th graders are so much easier, for me.....you can talk to them, and they understand, and their physical maturity is better, obviously, cuz the hormones have kicked in....but the other side of that coin is keeping them off the streets, and out of trouble, if you follow me...
this year they re-added the 5th graders cuz our squads were only about 15 kids per team...now they re 30 kids per team...big difference...
....kids their age (5th graders) just know street ball (backyard)...you have to unteach them first, to teach them what you need them to learn...(blocking/tackling)
hard work, for sure, but rewarding when the light finally goes on for them, and they have success and then really get into it....to see their hard work pay off, and how proud of themselves they get is great......sorry, im blabbing.....
and to the coach...
congrats coach, on your boy being starting qb...but, being a coaches son, what else would you expect, huh? haha.....i LOVE football..always have...played it for 20 yrs, and love coaching it.....but i also love baseball, and still play it, too.....
