double wing for 10and11yr olds

I have been coaching football for 12 years. In those years I have been trying a lot of different offenses, searching for the one that gave us the best opportunity to win. I really believe that I have found that offense; it is coach don Markuhm’s double wing. I have been fortunate to watch coach Markuhm’s teams in Bloomington run over everybody they play. I have talked to don and purchased videotape from him, I have also been able to attend several of don’s practices. Don is a very down to earth coach who believes in simplicity, he has been very helpful to me and several other coaches I know who all run his double wing attack. Don’s passion I believe is in promoting his offensive scheme, however no matter how passionate don’s efforts are to promote his own offense, the success that he and other coaches like me have enjoyed speak volumes in its effectiveness. I am a firm believer in this offense and have been running it with my 6th, 7th and 8th graders for 3 years now. I must admit I have seen and researched this offense for over 6 years before I started running it, I was afraid as many of you might be that our players could not run such a complicated scheme, I was wrong. I had coaches tell me you cannot have linemen pull at this level, they were wrong. You can do it and it works. I will tell you this, you must commit to run this offense and not just mix a few plays in here and there. The scheme is complete and complimentary to itself. You must save your practice time to practice these plays and forget about any other offenses or formations or plays that take up your valuable practice time.
I have noticed other coaches change and modify the original offense. I am also guilty of this, I have I believe simplified several of the blocking schemes without losing the effectiveness of the scheme. If you have modified this offense or have questions of how I have modified it please email me at ryaeger@jps.net.
