Youth football standards

By: Coach Ron
Add to Mixx!

We've been part of the AYF (www.youthsportsusa.com/ayf/ayf.htm)
for the past 3 seasons. Our league is an independent league. A one
size-fits-all weight guide line matrix doesn't work for everyone because
of leagues population base (rural-vs-suburban) being different. We also
have a tougher mandatory play rule than most leagues including pop warner.

We were looking for a national organization that offered insurance for
our board members & players; provided a source of coaching education;
tournament information; Cheerleaders info as well and general guidelines, yet let us decide the age & weights. The AYF
has given us the opportunity to have everything we need.....to be
affiliated and receive the benefits of a national organization
yet have control of our own league.

We are also lucky to have enough players to offer weight guide line
divisions for ages 7-14 (65-lb, 75-lb, 85-lb, 95-lb, 115-lb) and an
unlimited middle school weight division. This way we offer football for
every child who wishes to participate without turning anyone away.
