Coach Shine--DW
By: Coach Greg
Coach this is my third season running the DW. The first season I ran it Markham style and by the last season it was a mixture of Markham and Wyatt. I have decided to go to the playcalling style of Wyatt now since I am coaching in a new league and I don't have to reteach a play calling system. I am listing all of the available resources for the DW. Must have material: "The Toss" By Coach Jerry Vallotton (Markham style) Good book that teaches the core plays and how to teach and drill the system. I got mine at Amazon.com but you can order it B & N. Installing the DW video By Coach Hugh Wyatt. Teaches the fundamentals of the system and brings you through a one day training clinic with lots of good drills and the core plays. Troubleshooting the DW video by Coach Hugh Wyatt. Teaches some of the "what to look fors" and how to fine tune the system for improvement. Dynamics of the DW I video by Coach Hugh Wyatt. Goes over the system and how it works. There are more videos and he also has a great playbook that I would suggest getting. So what you need to get started: The TOSS Coach Wyatt's Playbook Installing the DW Are the biggest help Coach Wyatt can be reached at www.coachwyatt.com or 360-834-3868 Coach Vallotton also puts out some videos and a playbook. The best for the money is the: The Drill Tape (poor video quality but great drills) The Strategy Tape The Cut Up Tape Playbook (as each play against 9 standerd defenses) Coach Vallotton can be reached at PO Box 282 Bella Vista, CA 96008 I would teach the Wedge as my base play at the young age. It can be a devastating play at the younger age group.
I would also teach TOSS (88/99 Super Power). If pulling is a problem go to Super-O which only pulls the backside guard. I also think 77/66 Power are great counters at the younger age. Cut-Trap (3 trap 2/3 Trap 2) are great inside traps that work off the Super Power plays or Power Plays. Just my thoughts, I know there long. :^) Coach Greg
