DC 46 Feedback

"By process of elimination the kids figured out that Will lines up on the inside (slot) man, but we were unable to a basic alignment rule for why.

Because he's #2 receiver from the outside in.

"Corners seem to be the weak link right now -"

Welcome to the DC-46. Cornerbacks are everything. Include them in the "sumo" drill and they'll toughen up and play bigger than they really are.

"need to have quickness to be able to play tight man coverage combined with toughness enough to plug a flanker reverse coming back to his side. Stone call is a blast, and LB's are free to roam. Misdirection plays are eating us up right now, but that's coming along.

If misdirection is a problem it's because your players are looking at the ball, not their man. Get rid of the football from your drills including scrimmaging with a roll of quarters instead of a football or a piece of short doweling. Now run your plays with the roll/dowell and see if your kids can find who is carrying it. This forces them to focus on their man and not the ball.
