In verse 1 of Romans 12, we are exhorted to be a daily testimory, then in verse 2 we are shown the lifestyle we must live in order to serve the Lord acceptably. "And be not conformed to this world..." The Word of God makes it clear that, although believers are in this world, they are not of this world.
After we are born again, God does not always take us to Himself immediately, but leaves us here in this world to minister to others. If we conform to this world by practicing the attitudes and deeds of those around us, we become no different than they and therefore are not being a daily testimony for the Lord.
In 1 John 2:15, we read: "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." Every believer must choose between loving the Father or loving the world. We either conform to this world or conform to the image of God's Son, Jesus Christ.
Which choice are you and I making? If we choose to conform to this world in which we live, we will not permit the Holy Spirit to conform us to the image of God's Son and therefore will not live a life acceptable to Him.
