Hebrew 9:27-28 (1 of 2)

In Hebrews 9:27 God has appointed men not only to die but also to face His judgement; these facts lay the background for verse 28: "So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation."

Please notice that Christ was once offered to bear sin. The Word tells us that the wages of sin is death and that all have sinned; but, praise the Lord, Christ was offered on the cross for those sins. He paid the price--the cost--the penalty--for man's sins.

The "many" spoken of here are those who believe Christ died in their place as their substitue for sin and thereby accept Him as their personal Saviour. Christ is the answer to the sin problem.

Now notice how often Christ was offered: only ONCE on the cross Christ atoned for every sin the believer has ever sinned or will ever sin. He died only ONCE.

Please notice the promises God has left concerning the security of the believer. "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus..." (Romans 8:1). Also, Romans 6:14 states: "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for yea are not under the law, but under grace." Also, notice John 5:24: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my Word, and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." Thank God that, by His grace, those that believe in and on Christ pass from death unto life.
